The theme for the 2012 Festival of Faiths is Sacred Fire: Light of Compassion. As such, several Festival programs will draw attention to how we as a community of different faiths and cultures define compassion. November 15, 9:30 a.m.: Homeward Bound through Compassion
Rev. Ben Guess will deliver an address, “Then You Shall Call,” to be followed by a panel of local experts discussing effective solutions to the problem of homelessness. The program will also include a video featuring the voices of Louisvillians who are or have been homeless.

November 15, 12 p.m.: Compassion and Community
The City of Louisville, is partnering with the Festival of Faiths in offering this event. Rev. Joan Brown Campbell, co-author for the national Charter for Compassion and Director of the Department of Religion at the Chautauqua Institution, will present “Compassion in Religious Congregations,” and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer will follow with an update on the Compassionate Louisville initiative.
Cost to attend this event is $25. Reservations are required.
November 15, 2 p.m.: Compassion in the Workplace
James Doty, M.D., founder and director of the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University (CCARE), will be the keynote speaker for this event and will illustrate how compassionate business models benefit corporate America. Local business leaders who are known for their business acumen and their compassionate work settings, such as Bridgeman Foods CEO Junior Bridgeman, Spalding University President Tori Murden McClure and Signature Healthcare Vice President of Spirituality Dianne Timmering, will be special guests at this event.

November 15, 2 p.m.: Compassion in Neighborhoods
Neighborhood and religious leaders will explore ways to work together to establish a compassionate community.

November 16, 12 p.m.: Compassion in Congregations Worship and Luncheon
Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary
1044 Alta Vista Road, Louisville, Ky.
The Rev. Joan Brown Campbell, co-author of the national Charter for Compassion and Director of the Department of Religion at the Chautauqua Institution, will lead a worship service and be the keynote speaker at a luncheon hosted by the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
