Kentucky’s new poet laureate Frederick Smock is a Louisville native and a professor of English at Bellarmine University. The former editor of the international literary journal The American Voice, Professor Smock has published ten books of poems and essays. Two new books are forthcoming: Book of Earthly Delights and On Poetry: Palm-of-the-Hand Essays. His work is filled with keen observations about the creation of art, the intersection of poetry and peace, and the striking scenes of everyday life.
