Spiritual Catalyst for Compassion: 50th Anniversary of the Auspicious Meetings of Thomas Merton and His Holiness the Dalai Lama
When Tibetan Buddhist Monk His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Christian Trappist Monk Thomas Merton met on November 4, 6, and 8, 1968, both were profoundly touched. Merton’s untimely death one month later did not end the ramifications of these historic conversations that were held in the mountain city of Dharamshala, India. In the years since, the Dalai Lama has often referred to the impact this Christian Monk had on his own growth as a bridge of interfaith harmony and peacemaking.
Be inspired by the practical intersection between the visions of Merton and His Holiness and an engaged, compassionate, nonviolent city.
All are welcome.
